PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad -- Bad aviation fuel from the Trinidad and Tobago state-owned National Petroleum (NP) shut down domestic air bridge flights on Tuesday afternoon from Piarco to Crown Pointe airport in Tobago and vice versa.

ST CROIX, USVI -- Marking the first call of the summer season, Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines will make a big splash in St Croix, US Virgin Islands, on Saturday with the return of the Adventure of the Seas. With a capacity of over 3,100 passengers and 1,000 crew, the Voyager-class Adventure of the Seas is the largest capacity ship to visit St Croix.

Global warming threatens to wipe out Caribbean coral, says report
Caribbean coral species essential to the region's reef ecosystems are at risk of extinction as a result of climate change, according to a new marine life study released Thursday.
The report by Conservation International found 10 percent of the Caribbean's 62 spectacular reef-building corals -- one of the sea's most spectacular natural resources -- are under threat and candidates for "critically endangered" designations.

The study touches on one of the big puzzles about climate change: Will global warming, by heating the seas that give hurricanes their power, also make these storms more frequent?

Cuba's crucial tourism industry sagging
HAVANA, Cuba (AFP): Tourism, for 15 years the locomotive of the otherwise weak communist economy, faces erosion from within Cuba and without, the magazine Bohemia has reported.
In 2006 tourist arrivals fell 3.6 percent, "falling short of plans to grow by almost eight percent and reach 2.5 million foreign tourists on our streets and beaches."
